Reflecting on Target Audience

After finalising our video looking back at my target audience I know that everything I wrote down was correct and still matches for the music video that made. It shows escapism which most 15-21 males want to do to get away from student and working life. It still matches up with the sort of dance music artists that they like because our song is very similar to the tracks that those artists have released. They all like going out and having fun which is what exactly Harvey does in the video, it appeals to them because it makes them want to have fun and to go out.

During planning and the construction of our video I did have a feeling that our target audience would change as it wouldn’t apply to those specific people but when I realised that it all matched up with exactly what their ethos as a target group would be.

Editing and Reflection on Our Video

We have almost come to the end of editing our video and we have made a lot of changes and not just cutting shots to others. As a group we decided that the sea shots made Brighton look tacky and disgusting and that no one would want to go there because of how bad the water and the sky looked in the shots.Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 11.54.02

We decided as a group to change this and try and make the sea and the sky look brighter and more appealing. We tried to make the shot look bluer but only made it look colder and unnatural. We then tried going red but made the stones look like sand and that it was desert like which looked extremely over edited. We wanted something that was quite subtle and looked natural so that the audience wouldn’t even know we adjusted the colours.Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 11.53.49

We then tried mixing green and red together to see what sort of colour that gave off, only dragging the colour correctors away from the middle slightly so we knew it would still look normal. We liked the colour that it gave the sea, it didn’t look so murky and more of a bright green/washed out blue. It also gave the sky a pinky/red effect like the sun had just about set and made the clouds feel warm.

At the end of the video where Harvey is dancing in the sea the song at this point is more calming because the beat has already dropped numerous times you can tell that the song is coming to an end. We decided to put in some slow motion to match the music and it gave it a nice and relaxing feel, along with the new colours on the shot it looked fun to watch and quite mesmerising .

He swishes the water in which little droplets come towards the camera slowly which give it a nice effect as the water falls gently.

By doing this I think that this is more visually pleasing towards the audience and I liked how as a group we came to a mutual decision on how we were going to colour correct it and what looked right for that specific shot.
